Observe:

Kinja'd!!!

Foot on the gas pedal, car on, wheel at a comfortable position and the keychain KEEPS KNOCKING AGAINST MY KNEE TO THE POINT WHERE SUICIDE BECOMES A SERIOUS OPTION.

Kinja'd!!!

Why yes, I would like to set the parking brake, but there's a chair in the way. Funny, that. Also, if I pull it all the way back the plastic around it prevents me from pulling it back a little *further* in order to disengage it, so if I ever get the damn thing set I have to make REALLY SURE I don't pull it back *all* the way.

Why, Chrysler. Why.

Retro ergonomics to go with the retro looks. Chrysler really wanted to make it authentic.

Easy way to avoid all this - don't ever go near a PT Cruiser ever.

The keychain thing is actually brilliant engineering designed to prevent the kind of issues that GM is facing with the recalls!

Uhmmmm, Remember? Chrysler wants your life to be as depressingly miserable as possible.

That's not even shifting, it's an obtuse suggestion to the gearbox that would you please change gears, then after hemming, hawing, creating a committee, breaking for tea, maybe watching a football game or two, the gearbox finally decides to change to where you want ASSUMING you aren't doing strange unfamiliar things with the throttle.

Shifting into 3/2/1 on my Buick is 10x more effective, if not more awkward because column-mounted automatic.

Or you could have less junk on your keychain... this is pretty common.

The point of a keychain is holding multiple things. That's pretty damn bare-bones with the key fob, house key, key to the other house, and a library card. Not really sure how you can get away with more than that, and it is a ridiculous design because my car has the keyhole moved up to the top of the right side of the column so that any keys hanging down don't even hang below the bottom of the column, whereas this has the key hole about as low as they could possibly put it.
